Protecting Canterbury's freshwater ecosystems for future generations

Our Conservation Commitment

Canterbury Anglers Club has been actively involved in conservation efforts across the Canterbury region for over 75 years. We believe that sustainable fishing and healthy waterways go hand-in-hand, and we work closely with Fish & Game New Zealand and other organisations to protect our precious freshwater resources.

What We Do

  • Stream and river planting alongside catchment groups
  • Advocating for water quality improvements in Canterbury
  • Monitoring fish populations in our local waterways
  • Participating in willow and gorse removal programmes
  • Educating members on catch and release best practices
  • Supporting riparian planting initiatives
