Another – how to do it session. White Baiting and targeting Sockeye Salmon.

White Baiting season is in full swing. Get some advice on how to set up and use a box net at the Waimak Mouth, and when to target them to maximize your chances! Plus dip netting away from the Waimak Mouth, as well as gaining an understanding of the six native species that can make up our catch.

And with early November just around the corner, Sockeye Salmon in the Waitaki Lakes start to hit their prime condition to target for your frying pan. We have our own resident expert who knows a thing or two about catching these tasty chrome rockets! Did you know - Sockeye Salmon will also take a fly, and no special kit is needed, other than something big enough to attract their attention?
